Which room in the house do you least like cleaning? Bet you said the bathroom. Ridding showers, bathtubs, toilets and other surfaces of all sorts of buildup takes both time and elbow grease. Bathroom cleaning can be overwhelming and time-consuming. To help, PB Cleaning 247 we’ve developed a guide of products, suggestions, schedules- basically everything you need to tackle this not-so-fun chore like a pro.
How to clean a bathroom
It’s a common belief that when it comes to harboring germs, your toilet tops the chart for having the most. In reality, there are several areas that deserve equal attention. The floor, knobs, shower curtain, and sorry but your toothbrush should be disinfected just as often as the toilet. Bathroom germs are of course impossible to avoid. Getting in the routine of cleaning regularly, however, is at least an easy way to prevent them from reaching potentially dangerous levels and from spreading throughout your home.
Some Tips Before We Get Started
Here are a few simple ways to improve your cleaning habits and avoid transmitting the germs into yourself and the rest of your home:
- Clean up regularly. Keeping consistent makes the chore go faster and helps to prevent germ buildup, lowering your risk of illness. The floors, walls, handles and shower need a weekly wipe. The sink and toilet should be cleaned daily. A deep, thorough scrubbing should be performed on the entire room at least once a month.
- Prevent condensation and moisture. Excess moisture caused by steam is an ideal environment for mold and mildew to develop. Make sure the room is well ventilated and your shower floor, curtain, and bath mats are washed often.
- Pay particular attention to the toilet bowl. Your toilet is a cesspool for germs, fungi, and other nasty stuff you don’t want in your house. Scrub it with a disinfectant at least once a week. Most importantly, make sure the lid is always down before flushing! Not doing so allows the microscopic eruption that occurs with every flush to escape and land on the surfaces around your toilet.
- Wash your hands. Washing your hands properly before exiting the restroom is key to stopping germs from spreading. 20-30 seconds of vigorous washing with warm soapy water does the trick.
Follow these simple rules and you and your family will be safe from the invasion of bathroom germs. Below is our guide to giving your bathroom a speedy-deep clean.
How to Speed-Clean Your Bathroom
1. Gather the supplies.
To start, make sure you have everything you need:
- All-purpose cleaner (or some vinegar and baking soda)
- Paper towels
- Glass cleaner
- 1 Eraser Daddy dual-sided eraser
- 1 Scrub Mommy dual-sided sponge
2. Apply deep cleaners.
Start by applying your all-purpose cleaner of choice on the surfaces of your bath, sink, and shower. Let it soak while you tackle other areas of the room. If you have washing machine-safe bath mats, go ahead and toss them in your washer. Tip: We recommend you use eco-friendly products that are naturally derived from plants & minerals!
3. Take on the toilet bowl.
Pour cleaner around the bowl and give it a good scrub. We recommend vinegar-soda paste is good with a budget-friendly scrub, and easy-to-clean brush.
4. Finish the bath and shower.
Use the FlexTexture® side of your Eraser Daddy to scrub the surfaces that have been soaking. This combo works really well to remove soap scum from tile, fixtures and shower enclosures. Flip and use the water-activated PowErase® side to brighten white grout lines and caulk. Turn on the shower and rinse everything down.
5. Move to the walls and mirrors.
Grab your scrub mommy and glass cleaner for the mirrors. Remove any sticky hair spray residue or toothpaste with her scratch-free FlexTexture side. Then flip to achieve a dry, squeaky clean finish with her soft ResoFoam side. Clean up walls, switch plates, and baseboard with your lightly dampened Eraser Daddy. Dry all surfaces with your Scrub Mommy or paper towel.
6. Clean up the floors.
Vacuum the floor. Finish by going over it a second time with a wet mop. Pay special attention to the areas dust likes to collect, like in corners. Replace the rugs and mats.
7. Enjoy a job well done.
Congratulations, you’ve cleaned your bathroom! It wasn’t that hard, was it?
